چکیده

Abstract Purpose Near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) sensors measure muscle oxygen saturation (SmO 2 ) as a performance factor in endurance athletes. The objective of this study is to delimit metabolic thresholds relative maximal steady state (MMSS) using SmO cyclists. Methods Forty-eight cyclists performed graded incremental test (GTX) (100 W-warm-up followed by 30 W min) until exhaustion. was measured with portable NIRS placed on the vastus lateralis. Subjects were classified VO max levels scale from 5: L2 = 45–54.9, L3 55–64.9, L4 65–71, L5 > 71, which represent recreationally trained, well-trained, and professional, respectively. Then, determined: Fatmax zone, functional threshold power (FTP), respiratory compensation point (RCP), aerobic (MAP). In addition, output%, heart rate%, %, carbohydrate fat consumption cutoff MMSS obtained. Results A greater decrease found 55 (L3, L5) vs. (L2) MMSS. Likewise, after passing FTP RCP, dependent better extraction. Furthermore, defined at 27% , where non-steady begins during exercise trained Conclusion new indicator has been provided for cyclists, < cut-off define Zone. This intensity athlete can sustain 1 h under quasi-steady conditions without fatiguing.

Muscle oxygenation trends after tapering in trained cyclists

BACKGROUND: This study examined muscle deoxygenation trends before and after a 7-day taper using non-invasive near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS). METHODS: Eleven cyclists performed an incremental cycle ergometer test to determine maximal oxygen consumption (VO2max = 4.68 +/- 0.57 L.min-1) prior to the study, and then completed two or three high intensity (85-90% VO2max) taper protocols after bei...

Reliability of the calculated maximal lactate steady state in amateur cyclists

Complex performance diagnostics in sports medicine should contain maximal aerobic and maximal anaerobic performance. The requirements on appropriate stress protocols are high. To validate a test protocol quality criteria like objectivity and reliability are necessary. Therefore, the present study was performed in intention to analyze the reliability of maximal lactate production rate ([Formula:...

The midpoint between ventilatory thresholds approaches maximal lactate steady state intensity in amateur cyclists

The aim was to determine whether the midpoint between ventilatory thresholds (MPVT) corresponds to maximal lactate steady state (MLSS). Twelve amateur cyclists (21.0 ± 2.6 years old; 72.2 ± 9.0 kg; 179.8 ± 7.5 cm) performed an incremental test (25 W·min-1) until exhaustion and several constant load tests of 30 minutes to determine MLSS, on different occasions. Using MLSS determination as the re...

Maximal aerobic capacity (VO2max) in horses: a retrospective study to identify the age-related decline

Previous studies of the effect of age on maximal aerobic capacity (maximal rate of oxygen consumption, VO2max) in horses have only grouped horses (young, middle-aged and old) for statistical analysis. Those experiments were not designed to determine a break point due to age. The purpose of this study was to utilize data collected over the last 15 years to test the nature of the association betw...
